Hackney Council to consult on rate relief

You may recall we recently posted news in relation to Barnet Council consulting on rate relief;
Hackney Council have now announced that they too, will conduct a consultation. A total available distribution fund of £7.1 Million with an initial £4.1 million becoming available to eligible businesses in 2017/2018.
Businesses in Hackney are facing rateable values rises of 46% the largest in London and five times the national average according to the council.
Although Hackney are not proposing to implement the same criteria as Barnet Council. The hope is that post consultation, targeted relief will be made to eating and drinking out businesses
